Well, I got a new home system the other day. In my heart of hearts I'm an OS X man, with Linux running a close second and Windows running about ninth behind FreeBSD, AIX, SunOS, VMX, OS/2 and DOS. Yet despite this, for a variety of reasons, a new windows system is precisely what I got. One of those reasons is that more games are available and sooner for windows. This reasoning would be funny if it were not so depressing because when it really comes down to it I have no time to play games.

I bought Masters of Orion III (capsule review: an overly ambitious game gutted to make an overly complex one) and I think I've maybe logged 10 hours of total game play. I thought Morrowind might be a nice diversion, so far I've logged around an hour and a half, which in a game as long as Morrowind means I'm 10% done with the character creation, but it does look very, very nice on my new GeForce FX, but that's a story for another time.

I keep thinking that despite it's complete impossibility that someday I'll gain the ability to stop time for everyone but me, link in that Twilight Zone episode. Then I'll be able to play all the computer games I want, I'll be able to sleep all I want, exercise all I want, and work all I want (or all I'm supposed to, all I want is about 30 seconds every geological epoch).

Carpe Diem Quam Minimum Credula Postero,
Ross
